CHARTER FISHING SEASONS
Charleston waters provide abundant fishing opportunities year round. Lowcountry Triple Charters is happy to provide charter fishing in all seasons.
In the flats and rivers around Charleston, our clients can expect to encounter Red Drum, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Bonnethead Shark, Sheepshead, Black Drum, Ladyfish, and Bluefish. The harbors and near shore waters provide our clients with a shot at Channel Bass, Spanish Mackerel, Jack Crevalle, many different types of sharks, and the elusive Tarpon.
Beginning in late spring, Redfish begin to move up into the Spartina Grass during extreme high tides to feed on fiddler crabs and other bait that congregate up in the marsh during these “talling tides.” These fish can be seen finning or literally “on their heads with their tails out of the water” offering the Angler not only a great sight casting opportunity but also a spectacle that will cause even the most mellow Angler to gain a tremendous rush.
During the months of October through March, when the water temperature cools, the Redfish start to gather into large schools. It is not uncommon to see these fish grouped in schools of over 100 fish. Poling along the flats and visibly targeting these fish can be incredibly exciting. Large numbers of Speckled Trout also inhabit the water during this time.
